Default New Alternator, which one?

So i wanted to replace my alternator and wanted a brand new one, rather then a refurbished. I looked on eBay and found this 160amp alternator: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
What you guys think? This will probablly be a stock replacement and I won't need to upgrade any wiring or anything since this unit is a bit more powerfull then stock...right?

your stock wiring will be fine. that one looks ok, but i myself would find something with a brand name on it like a powermaster or something. even though they are a little more expensive. I went to the ford dealer one time to buy an alternator and they gave me a refurbished one, didnt even say ford on it

Default New 160 amp alternator!

We also just installed a new 160 amp alternator shown below ( 3 pictures) in my son's 2003 GT Mustang. We were told that when you install a higher rated amp alternator, it is highly recommended that you install an additional heavy duty cable between your alternator and positive battery terminal with an inline fuse holder that can handle the appropriate fuse. We installed a 200 amp fuse. So far, no problems. Check out the MotorCity link below in regards to running a heavy duty cable for your 160 amp alternator. Hope this helps.
Good luck, Tommy.

I replaced mine about 6 months ago and just bought the cheapest refurbished one I could find on ebay.

Default Yes, I agree with you!

You are absolutely right! But that is my son's car not mine. So, if he choses to drive it around with his engine looking the way it does, that's his problem. To give you a hint of the kind of work I do, check this out. I'm installing a Buick V-6 into my 2002 PT Cruiser. Thanks for your concern and comments, Tommy.

Default Fuse Cover?

His 50 amp fan motor fuse kept blowing, one after another. While troubleshooting I decided to install a 50 amp breaker shown in the picture. So that is why I installed that plastic cover. It was suppose to be a temporary thing. But somehow it became a temporary permanent thing like always. When we fixed the problem, my son said just leave the breaker hooked up. That was approximately 2 years ago. Still works fine. You know what they say, if it aint broke, don't fix it! That's the second plastic cover on there. What can I say! It's not a show car, but everything is working. Besides that, he is waiting for the new Camaro's to get to us here in Hawaii. So, he really does not want to spend any more than he has to on the Mustang. Thank you, Tommy.
