The worse TO bearing noise I've ever heard.
This morning my TO bearing took a massive **** on my day. When I replaced my trans back in Dec. the original bearing was already chirping like a bird, with on 50k on the car. I installed my new Spec clutch with a oe bearing, but after only 10k miles it bit the dust. Within 5 miles it went from sounding like a chirping bird to seizing up, not even spinning and screaming like a bad power steering pump. My fear is that it destroyed the prongs on my pressure plate. I crawled under looked and it when I removed the little box over the clutch fork it smelled like metal being ground down.
So my question(s), is there a better t.o. bearing than the factory Timken? I already know that the Spec's are garbage. And since I will be swapping this in my driveway, what signs should I look for to tell if I need a new pressure plate? Is light marring where the t.o. bearing contact the prongs on the pressure plate ok, because I am almost certain there will be some?
