Default Vacuum leak question?

Hi all. I had my clutch, pressure plate, and TOB replaced last week, and now I'm hearing a similar sound to the bad TOB sound I heard last week, if not the same sound.

My mechanic hears a vacuum leak, but as I hear it, the noise goes away when I push the clutch pedal all the way in. Could it really be a vacuum leak?

Thanks,
John

Probably not, did he use a Ford TOB or aftermarket?

He used the parts I ordered - centerforce for all, clutch, pp and tob.

If you really believe the noise goes away when the clutch is depressed then you should goto another technician. He might be using "vacuum leak" to cover a possible mistake. Try another technician to get a second opinion.

Just got the car back - mechanic said he couldn't find any vacuum leaks, and that a little noise from the tranny is normal, since all the parts in it are spinning when the clutch is engaged (foot off pedal) in neutral.

Not sure how to proceed now?

you can take the cover off at the fork and look to MAKE SURE he replaced ALL of the parts

if you got the car back with the same noise....then maybe you the car back with the same parts

Just got a 2nd opinion, TOB is making noise. Gonna be great tomorrow when I take this info back to my mechanic. Of course, he asked me to, so he's not gonna like what he hears!

Aftermarket TOB's are junk. Have him replace it with an OEM one. It might not have been his fault, but most likely, since even aftermarket TOB's don't usually fail instantly.

Aren't you supposed to keep one brand through all the clutch parts? Like TOB, clutch, and pp?

Well clutch and PP should be matched, but a Ford TOB is the only way to go
