heres a pic of a tensioner.....http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...entId=cat30063
....there is a square hole in the alum that a ratchet fits into...put the ratchet in the whole and put a lil elbow grease behind it ...it will only want to move in one direction...the whole is on the opposite side that the pic is showing

Are you messing with us? (Edit: Not trying to be an ***, serious question)

Use a long 3/8" ratchet, put the square drive end in the hole at the top of the tensioner and push in a direction as if you were tightening a bolt (righty tighty).

Belt goes on easy if you put it over the alternator pulley last (that's what i do anyway) and then make sure it's lined up and seated properly on the other pulleys.

check the UDP install on AmericanMuscle.com. IIRC the guy installing shows you how it works if you need visual demonstration.

Haha, no i swear i'm not.

Here's a pic what my engine bay currently lookds like...

Based off of the diagram it looks my belt tensioner is a bit far to the left but that seems to be the only way it securely fits in. I basically need another inch of slack to get the belt over the alternator. I've put in the bolt for the belt tensioner but i've only tightened it about half way.

Yeah, as i stated in the first post, i'm an idiot finally figured out the whole you where talking about, lol. Well now that i figured that out i have another issue (i swear...)

The belt seems to be pressed up against some metal, see pic
Please disregard the belt idler pulley and how the belt isn't aligned properly on it, this was a pic before i got the serpentine belt over the idler pulley

everything solved (i put the serpentine over the idler pulley instead of under)...i had pretty sweet experience today 3/3 baby (took off the entire pully tensiner, couldn't figure out how to put the serpetine belt back on (aka loosen the tension on the belt), and put the belt on wrong...awsome...haha

Yes I just went in the garage to check, 3/8. Sorry if I gave bad advice, like I said maybe it's just my car.

Edit: Just checked your pics mstang2k6... what a clusterf*** hahaha. You're not an idiot either, I had an escort I routed the belt all screwed up on too once, I think most people have done it before. Good thing to do is draw a picture beforehand. Apply the same rule to other jobs on the car, label stuff, take notes maybe, use a yellow paint marker to mark side-specific parts, etc..
Glad you got it fixed though.
