Brakes making noise!!!
hey guys, I recently had my 01 GT go to Pep boys I know I know, not the best place to go but I just needed a set of brake pads put on and its been hot as blazes here. So I dident really feel like killing my self to do it outside in the drive way. Anyway after he got all done got my car out and was driving I notice when I brake it makes a faint scraping noise such as when I roll by walls or buildings I can hear it reflect off of the building making a faint scraping noise. It only comes from the Driver side front, night before I took it in, I figured i would look and see if I could do the brake pads to my disamay I got teed off about the clips and could not get the pads to come off I noticed the two caliper bolts would just continue to spin and not tighten back up any thoughts on me bending the clip slightly or him not tightening things down?

You would notice severely reduced braking ability, noise, vibration or all of the above including other symptoms if your Caliper were improperly mounted.
As for the clips, DO NOT bend them to remove the pads unless you have replacements.
Brake jobs are absolute Cake.
Remove the wheel
Unbolt the Caliper Sliders from the Caliper mounting bracket.
Remove Caliper.
Unbolt caliper mounting bracket.
Remove bracket and pads as one unit. It is now infinitely easier to remove the pads. When you have the pads out, with a wire brush remove any surface impurities (Rust, dirt etc) from the mounting bracket. Doesn't have to be clean enough to eat off of, just clean enough for the pads to move freely. Obtain some motorcraft or other Silicone Brake Grease. Apply lightly to the bracket where the pads cradle. Also apply to the Caliper sliders (After cleaning. Be sure to replace the rubber boot properly, which prevents foreing materials from contaminating the sliders).
Re-assemble.
Now, you may or may not (More than likely, you will) Need to force the caliper piston back in with new diameter pads. To be totally honest, I use a 3/8's extension and a set of Channel locks
Too simple, bro. Do it once and you're an expert.
