Default Changing brake pads for the first time.

I've made up my mind to try and change my front brake pads myself to save me some cash. I've never changed brake pads before but I looked up a bunch of how to videos on youtube. It "seems" simple enough. My question is, is there some little trick or some helpful hints I need to know. I know I need a tool to compress the caliper piston. Is there anything else? thanks guys, and wish me luck.

Do the one on the passanger side first. You can use a c-clamp. I just use a big old screw driver. You have to take the pads off and then put the caliper back on. Use the screw driver between the rotor and the caliper piston. Then pry back on the s-driver. Till the piston is all the back in. Then just take the caliper back off and put the the pads in and reinstall the brake caliper. Do not take any brake line loose. When you are finish with both side all the fiuld should be back in the master cylinder. Hope this help you out.

Take my word for it, Form makes the EASIEST cars to do brakes on. Also we have 4 wheel discs... can't beat that - it's ice cream.

^+1 on channel lock pliers to compress the pistons before putting them over the rotor and pads..

I'd also pull out the brake pins and coat them with brake grease or anti seize.

Are you using new rotors or cutting the ones on there now?

+1 on the grease. I didn't do it on my rear brakes and 8 months later they froze and I had to replace the bracket. I was lucky that my local Autozone said the new pads and rotors were covered under the warranty.

Thanks guys. I'll definitely use the grease. I got some EB Red Stuff Pads. They've got to be better than the **** Autozone sells.

dont forget the rear calipers need to be rotated clockwise to compress the pistons. you can use needle nose pliers or a brake tool that costs 40 bucks at harbor freight
