pressure test?

pressure test?
I have the teksid block. picked it up last night. I imagine the first thing i would do is get it pressure tested. a few questions on that. Would that be a bare block, take everything off and take it in? how much would a pressure test cost you think? anything else i should do to prep this block for the build?

Do u mean compression test? I've never pressure tested a block before, I've done countles heads but never a block. Typically you mag a block, but seeing as yours aluminum, you can't do that.dye penetrant would work, and press testing would too assuming you can get the block up in the jig.
What makes you think its cracked?

well nothing really makes me think its cracked, the machine shop said pressure, may have meant compression. I believe these blocks are rated up to like 900hp or something, so would you just say forget, chances are good its not. no visible damage to the block. realize that doesn't say much. Just wondering what things i should do to get this ready to be a pumping machine. Was thinking about boring it, some people are saying they wouldn't do that. basically first step i figured is to make sure the block is useable. I have it now, and can provide in detailed pics of whatever you need if that would help.

guy told me $55hr for all the work. could do port and polish heads/intake. and can test the block. said to test the block it'd take about an hour.. guess he meant compression test. no torque plate like you were sayin. 55 a high amount? how long would it take to port and polish everything?

we charge 80 an hour... so sure 55 is good lol...
and i have no idea on the time in porting the heads... depends on ALOT of things.
ask him what he means by pressure test the block... and ask him if dye penatrant would be another route, and its cost...
tq plate is only for boring a block

would you recommend boring the block? alright good price. yeah i'll try to clearify on the pressure test. think the relay was messed up for compression test. dye penatrant will be found out first thing tomorrow. what does that do exactly? would that take the place of a compression test?

alright, sorry to keep bugging you, few other things. so lets say this no name company does my port/polish.. what if they screw up? how would i go about things then? do machine shops pack warranties... or... hey i'll buy you some new heads etc? the machine shop i worked at doesn't do automotive, just avaition stuff, so i have to find a new place.
