Default Throw out bearing??

I too have a 97 GT, but i just put a Spec stage II in mine. Before that tho, mine did the same thing. Let me ask ya, is it more of hissing sounds ( like when someone has bad breaks and it makes that high pitched hissing sound ) Cause if so, ya might need a new clutch. Mine OEM clutch did that right before took a dive. Also, my throw-out bearing was shot too. I think the sounds mine was making, is the same as your problem.

- what i would do is talk to your guy and just upgrade your clutch. It was one of the best things i have done to my stang. I didnt mind replacing my clutch, cuz i just upgraded. When ya do it will come w/ Clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, a lil tool and lube. It worth it man.

- or i could be completly worng haha good luck

Default Throw out bearing??

Hey clean97, the shop is feeding you a line of bulls**t. If you replace your throwout bearing, you do NOT have to replace the whole clutch assembly. They like to prey on people and try to get you to pay for work you don't need. The reason they want to try to sell you a clutch kit also is because it takes the same amount of time to replace a throwout bearing as to replace the clutch, because either way you have to remove the transmission from the car, which takes a few hours. I replaced my throwout bearing myself, and it cost me $35 for the bearing, which you can get at any auto parts store, and a couple days to do the work. Tell the shop to kiss your *** and do it yourself. If they genuinely believe you must replace the clutch with the throwout bearing, then they are in the wrong industry, because they are boneheads.

You're welcome. Also, if you need assistance, buy a Haynes manual. It details the process perfectly.
