on my 2003 gt, i had a mgw shifter installed and i changed the fluid to royal purple synchomax, after driving it a while the shifting became notchy, my 1st to second was clunky, i changed to fluid to ford auto oil, and put the stock shifter back on, but when i put the stock shift **** 1st gear to second feels notchy, but with my heavier hurst shifter ball it feels fine, what can cause this?

Any STS will make the trans feel notchy. You remove all the rubber and dampening, along with some leverage on the shifter. Did you fill it up all the way to spec?

i filled it to about 3.6 quarts of oil since i see that 4 quarts is overfill

I think 3560s trip out when you put over 3 qts of fluid in them. When filled with too much fluid, it makes them notchy. There are plenty of threads on this subject.

The recommended capacity is 3.0L (3.2qts), per TSB 04-15-6...

The lesser quantity reduces the tendency of the shift rods and rod lock detents to hydralock, and allows smoother transition of the shift forks...
