Please help with Alternator Prob
I am pretty handy under the hood but stumped on this one! My alternator went out on my 02 GT and I bought a new one from Ford. I installed it and next day, either bearing or fins were dragging and making loud noise. Took it back, 3 days later this one does same thing. Took it back this morning and now the 3rd one is doing the same thing!!!
This thing unbolts and bolts with no adjustments! What the heck is going on? Can't possibly be 3 bad ones in a row!
Please help me???

Thanks for responding "devongarver".
The idler pulley is good. I took it to my buddy who is a mechanic and he assured me that I had everything bolted up correctly and that it truly must have been bad alternators.
Reason for changing first alternator was because the car was throwing codes that pointed to ignition system and when I started the car, it reved and then died but then would crank right away and run. I called local mustang perf specialists and they said they have run into that before and it could be the alternator. Truth is that it was the alternator because it cranks and runs perfect.
Now I am just gonna cross my fingers that this 4th one doesn't go bad too.

check your crank position sensor too, i had that problem with it dying and starting right up. after buying a 900 dollar polished 170 amp pa performance alternator, i realized it was a 40 dollar sensor..lol

Check the post on the alt. Mine came lose once and the volts dropped and started to miss. The car never died just ran like a slug. Take the nut off and the wire and tighten the post.
