4.6 4 valve swap ftw. If you are wanting a better application go 4 valve swap you can find alot of power there. They even make 3 valve kits now but the 4 valve seems right for the money.

i agree lol. u should stop taking it to whoever built ur engine...

You couldnt re-build the 4.6 for that much. you may be able to fandangle the motor itself for 15-2k, but in the end it will likely cost much more. unless you wanted to swap and still have a gutless wonder.
im not estimating how much it costs to do the swap, i have talked to many people that have the swap done for less than $1500. most go forged right away and that puts the swap around $2500-$3000 depending on going with a full kit or piecing items together. it is very feasible, if u dont believe me just read through the link i posted earlier. im not making stuff up lol. im not trying to change anyones mind, just want him to know it is possible and cheap to do a 5.4 2v swap.

Thats a lot of money, unless Im missing something. My whole point is that its cheaper an smarter to mod the 4.6
a lot of people choose not to get headers for their 4.6 so its not anymore expensive if u dont get them for the 5.4. and i believe a good set of headers for a 4.6 are close to $1000 so its not really that much more between applications. the price for the swap i uncluded the intake. u can find a used van motor or truck for as little as $300, add a little machine work and $700 hps intake and ur good for about $1000. also, forging the bottom end costs the same whether its a 4.6 or 5.4. not really a price difference between the two.

yeah ive researched how common and prices between the 5.4 and the 4.6 and have decided that buying the 5.4 would be cheaper in the long runand ill just keep the 4.6 on the engin stand for later or maybe sell the piece of **** on ebay.... and the mechanic that put my motor together was my dad and hes been a mechanic for over 30 years and can tear down and rebuild motors with his eyes closed he has done several others before with no catastrophic failures like this p.o.s

well you have no need to spin 7500 rpm anyway... a 5.4 is better because its a cheaper way to get a stroked motor. The 5.4 is good to 7k though, but no matter what your going to need new valve train, 4v heads are still garbage, even once you race port them, they just fall into basically decent (275cfm+)

... that why I went SBC

SBC is as easy as it gets... AJEracing is a good place to start. Im building an LSX and leaning towards running the 496, but I still have more research to do... its probably better to keep it square and run a 454 w/ boost

Even a LSIII would probably be cheaper than what most people spend for superchargers and stock goats can hold 550 rwhp pretty easily

Just get a 4.6 4v. Like said before you'll just gain torque going to 5.4 2v. At least go to a 5.4 4v if anything but then theres other headaches. Easiest thing to do is build up your 4.6
