diagnosing a slightly rough idle
this is in my 4.6 crown vic, i dont want to use my sniper tuner to run the check engine light code. and the car doesnt have plates so i cant drive it to autozone, i just got the car and have been working on it and gettin it up to par.
i had the hood off for a couple days while i was replacing the fender and it rained on the motor. after this i noticed it had a rough idle and then the check engine light came on. im not sure if it was the rain or if it was like this from the get-go. i never drove the car besides it idleing in my drive and moving it in and out of the barn. its been over 3 weeks since it was rained on.
and from time to time, the exhaust reaks like rotten eggs so im guessing it has a miss.
if i give it a rev, its not really smooth. its kinda rought in the lower rpms
ive sprayed down the vacuum lines with starter fluid to see if i could find a leak and came up with nothing.
whats the best way to go about this?
unplugging COP's and seeing if one of them doesnt affect the idle?

I would be willing to bet you torched one or more coils when the engine was rained on.
Moisture+COP's= A sad panda.
Just check the code. What's the sense beating around the bush, you're feeling blind otherwise..

You don't need bullets to use Recon, which includes their DTC and check-engine light reader. Just plug the Sniper box into your car, plug it into your laptop, start Recon, connect to the PCM, and click on Tools -> Diagnostics to see the codes.
Bullets are required for tunes only. You could use your one copy of Recon on 50 vehicles in one day if you really wanted to.
