i have to find a positive hot inside the car
cigarette lighter is burnt out or some crap, changed the fuse under hood no changes, so i can't use the hot wire from that to work my speedo calibrator.. so i gotta find another positive, anyone have an idea? i can run it straight to the battery, but anything easier?

If i connect it to the fuse box, i'm getting its an aux. port... would i still have to have a fuse directly to it? since i won't be using the cigarette lighters fuse? i imagine i would. any other place i can just wrap it and go like the cigarette lighter?

The questions that need to be asked here WHENEVER power demand items are connected:
1. What is the amperage demand of your item?
2. Does it need to be switched via ignition or power at all times?
Sounds like the speed cal. is likely a low power draw, as it would appear that the cig. lighter supply is normally used. It also sounds like it needs full-time power due to this "normal" connection point.
With that said, you need a volt meter to find an open connection in your fuse box and run a minimal fuse rated for your item.

The cigar lighter is a rather high capacity, unswitched, source (a dedicated 20A line), the "power-point" in the center console is also a 20A dedicated circuit.
The pink/black wire at the traction control switch is a good switched (hot in RUN) source, it is supplied from a 15A fuse that powers only the t/c switch and the instrument cluster--both relatively low power need loads.
If you have a coupe there may be an unused connector for the convertible top behind the shift bezel--the white/violet wire at that connector is fed from a 20A fuse (#20 in the CJB, which may not be installed and is hot in RUN or ACC).
