Default Speedometer not working after I put a reman t45 in

So my trans on my 99 cobra decides go to out one day during a pull and the day I take the car out to the shop I noticed the speedometer wasn’t working (was working before it broke) the shop put the trans I gave them in the car and they couldn’t get the speedometer to work after it was all done. Took the car home and pulled the speedo sensor out and it had one of those yellow gears on it so I take the gear off and buy a new speed sensor and it’s still not working, but I was told the 99’s are supposed to have a Hall effect sensor. This probably doesn’t matter but when I gun it the speedometer goes to 20mph then just stays there till I get off. Anyone got any input on what it could be

Default

there should not be any gears on either the tailshaft or the sensor. Its (like you said) a hall effect sensor

so a flat black plastic sensor with small metal tip and a reluctor wheel
