Default HELP!! See pictures...

Hello everyone:

I bought my 96 gt with a crappy ebay CAI, and I wanted to replace the truly tiny air filter that fits INSIDE the wheel well with the stock airbox and a K&N filter. I've got all the parts (at least I think) and there's a problem getting the MAF to fit onto the air box. The 4 bolts on the air box disc protrude so as to create this gap (see picture #1). The crappy CAI has a flat surface to mate to the MAF, but not the stock airbox disc (see pic# 3). Am I missing a part that fits here, between the MAF rubber seal and the stock airbox disc (see pic #2)?? If yes, does it come with the MAF (seeing as I bought the air box and it didn't come with that...)

If anyone can take a look at their 96-98 gt and give me an answer would REALLY help me. Thanks in advance!

Gaspi

reply in general tech section.... you got a problem there. that gap will result in a vaccuum suction of unfiltered air entering the engine

Your missing a round screen that fits in there and seals the gap. Why do you want the stock air box on? Can't you put the K&N on the CAI tube that you have?

The little screen I removed went on the OTHER side of the MAF--it is not the piece that fit between the MAF and the stock airbox. And no, unflortunately the crappy CAI is crappy because the filter is SO SMALL that it's supposed to fit INSIDE the wheel well through the opening in the engine bay. This means that the connection that you see on the BIG picture above leads to a twisted tube that places the filter inside the wheel well, rather than adapting the filter directly to the MAF, all inside of the engine bay. Can anyone look in their car for this piece for me (the one between the MAF rubber gasket and the stock airbox filter disc)? Thanks so much!!!

Am I missing your point of your question? I thought you were trying to put your stock air box on and you want to fill the gap.' this is what my 96 GT air box looks like

When I bought my car that piece was missing so I just made my own gasket.
