"Hissing" from power steering
I have been noticing for the longest time that my steering has been "hissing" at me when I just turn the wheel normally to back out of a parking space in the parking garage. It doesn't really hiss when I'm going around corners in the parking garage, because I guess the car is moving... but it still hisses pretty loud. I actually used to have screeching coming from the power steering until I put lucas' "power steering stop leak" in it, and about 2 weeks later, that squeaky issue went away. Any ideas?

Well my pump started making these kinds of noises and I had a few extra laying around (don't ask) so I replaced it. I guess I'm not sure what they cost new. I would just pick up an OEM replacement, nothing fancy about a PS pump.
Pump can be a bugger... especially the 4th bolt.. and sometimes getting the line off there. But all in all not to bad.
I guess I'm not sure if the pump would seize the pulley if it actually gave out.... that could make things suck for you.

I kinda get that same sound when I turn my wheel all the way and then give it some pressure as if I am trying to overturn....you can hear the powersteering or whatever "hiss".....it's not that loud though and i'm not sure if it's the same sound you are describing

Well, I mean this happens even if I am not trying to "overturn" it. Even if I slightly try and turn the wheel it does this, but can only really be heard in an enclosed area like a parking garage.
