Default PI Swap and Intake Gaskets

After completing the PI Swap on my 96 Windsor block GT, I found a small variable with the intake gaskets. In a nutshell, the gaskets I recieved with the kit were different from those that were previously on the car (the car has the updated intake installed). The new gaskets lacked material in the area sealing the water jacket at the rear of the intake. The new gaskets are out from the old gaskets only by several millimeters. Basically, I re installed the old gaskets due to a lack of options, and now nearly 6 months later have serious vaccum leaks at the intake. I've recieved a new pair of gaskets, which look to be correct and have sufficient material in the area the previous were lacking, however I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem? Anyone who has done the PI swap run into a freak coolant leak at the rear of the intake due to a gasket issue, or am I completely alone here?

First time I did the swap I had the newer style intake with the o-ring seals that worked great. When I went with the edlebrock intake I used the old stye gaskets with no issues. I've also changed the intake gaskets on my brothers car and not ran into a problem like your talking about, thats weird.

I would take a picture and show the exact difference between the two gaskets, but I don't have anywhere to host the photos. Maybe I can find a photo on the net somewhere.

Welp, no need to do any more research, the problem is quite simple;
I've been using the Non PI Gaskets.

Problem solved.

Delete thread, if you wish.
