Ok, 2000 GT, 147000 miles, Daily Driver (obviously).

I have had ticks and taps over the last few years, but have all been simple fixes. This is a new tick/tap.

The sound is intermittent and corresponds to the RPMs of the engine. it doesnt do it neccisarily on a cold/warm start. it seems to happen after interstate driving for 20-30 min, or city driving 15-20. I found if i stop and turn the car off, and then back on, it seems to go away.

Popped the hood and determind that the sound is coming from the front of the engine... i think, or possibly the bottom toward the front.

When it is ticking it is VERY noticeable, driving or sitting.

Just curious to any ideas you might have.

I had a similar problem with a different vehicle I could not pinpoint it but I put lucas oil stabilizer in during my next oil change and it went away. It usually happened when my engine was really hot and the oil was thin, the lucas stalilizer helped so Im assuming thats what was happening. With that many miles on your car it could be a sticky valve
