Default Time for a rebuild/new transmission? (TR-3650)

As of last night my transmission is out of commission I was getting on the freeway shifting around 3500 rpms and as I went to shift into 4th gear it wouldnt go into gear. After that I couldn't get the car to go into any gear at all, so I pulled over to the side of the freeway and let it sit for 5 min. The car still goes into all gears when the engine is turned off, but when the engine is running it wont go into first at all. I managed to get the car moving by starting in 2nd gear but the transmission was making horrible sounds and smelled like burnt clutch. 3rd,4th, and 5th gear were all working okay again and I was able to get the car home.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a trustworthy/quality transmission shop in western WA? I was thinking of just buying one of the rebuilt TR3650's off of ebay for $760, whats the most efficient and cost-effective way to go about fixing the trans? Thanks.

What did you ever find out about this? I was goin to say it was your clutch as but then you said it was making horrible sounds. when my clutch went out i had no sounds just would not go into gear. Could Start it in gear but could not shift.

I just blew Revers out of my v6 and i am also in Western WA(Orting). Most likely i will end up running it in to fugate in enaumclaw Monday to see what this is going to cost. I would imagine it would be cheaper to buy a Ebay trany and install it. But who knows

let me know what you came up with

I bet its your clutch when i blew mine the F*** up and i do mean blow it up my clutch when i would engage it made some metal grinding sounds, it could be that you have so little clutch left that it slips and makes that sound have someone take your clutch out and look at it, and if it falls out kinda like dust as mine did well then you can say "here's your sign" and I heated my clutch up so much my flywheel was partly blue from heat just check maybe alot cheaper thing to fix than you think! If it smelt like burnt clutch it probably is! /thread
