Odd, my wifes is Riveted on and so was another one I took off. Looked pretty sturdy to me but if they are just held in with plastic clips, defiantly don't. If anything, I would just drill the breather holes. I wouldn't ever cut out the huge area like the .

hmm? what years were those scoops?

mine has some plastic flexible screws that are attached to the scoop itself, you feed those through the holes on the hood then put the nuts on.
