P1SC vs D1SC

P1SC vs D1SC
well guys, I wasnt looking for it necissarily, but an opportunity to buy a slightly used Procharger P1-SC full intercooled kit came up and I couldnt resist. My 2003GT is all set with my KB 2.1, but I have a 2001 GT vert that I was going to butcher up this winter with some Trickflow heads. Origional plan was to build the motor for NA power and a shot of nitrous... now, I'm thinkin it wouldnt be too bad to have one GT twin screwed, and one GT centri blown
To those of you that own them... What exactly is the difference between the P1-SC and the D1SC? I was thinking of sending the head unit in to be redone/reworked/whatever into a D1SC but dont know if its really worth another 1200 bucks or whatever it costs. I got the full kit, brackets, intercooler and everything for 1800, which is a steal, but if it ends up costing as much as a new kit to upgrade/rebuild to a D1sc, I might just stick with the P1...
what do you guys think? Is there a big power difference between the two? I really have no clue...

Procharger gives specs to their units on there website. The biggest difference between the D1SC and the P1SC is the max. flow. The P1SC is rated at 1200CFM, the D1SC at 1400CFM. It's not until the F1-A that you see a big difference in max impeller speed and internal step ratio. As for the difference in power, I don't know if I've seen anyone really test out the potential of the P1SC unit the way we've seen people do with the vortechs. I'm not really sure what the ceiling on that blower is.

i'm still unsure about the setup I want in the longrun... i barely drive the vert as is, (beater for winter driiving, truck for work, 03 GT for most driving, 01 GT vert for beach/real nice weather only haha) so i'm not looking for big (450RWHP+) power.
I was thinking of just doing heads/cams/nitrous before, now I have the kit, I'm worried that a heads/cams/blower setup would be too much for the stock block even at real low boost levels. So would a D1-SC get me to say 400rwhp just on its own?

if you barely drive the car it would be hard to justify spending a lot of extra money on it. in your scenario i would get the p1sc. it gets the job done and its cheaper. if you want to get your speed/power fix, hop in the 03.
someone that has experience with the two units should chime in. i've personally had neither.

The 3.8 guys have explored the limits of the P-1SC a bit more than the mod motor guys (weird, huh?).
At 14 psi or higher, belt slip starts to become an issue with the P-1SC. The D1 doesn't have the same problems. It's worth it to have the P1 rebuilt as a D1 instead of just having the bearings/seals replaced.
