Will stiffer valve springs with stock cams do me any good?

Default Will stiffer valve springs with stock cams do me any good?

My gt with exhaust and gears seems like the valves float at 5k and above. If I install stifffer valve springs, will this correct it and let me continue to make power up to redline?

You shouldn't be getting any valve float. Stiffer springs will not help with stock cams.

What makes you think it's valve float, and not something else?

Ok no. If its floating, yes a stiffer spring will fix it

Yeah, but if he is truly getting valve float at 5k with stock cams and springs, then wouldn't it stand to reason that he either has bad stock springs or some other underlying problem.

The stock springs should be fine with the stock cams to around 6k, otherwise they wouldn't come that way from the factory.

Also (maybe i'm wrong here) but wouldn't stiffer springs rob him of more power, due to the increased seat pressure, combined with small specs of the factory cams?

No no power loss. And maybe his are worn, most likley that's the case. But nothings wrong w going a little stiffer to get it to hold steady till 6500, not that stock cams make the power there, just saying. And why get stock now and replace them again later. A stiffer spring will fix float, and won't be an issue
