Used Motor inspection help.
I just picked up a 4.6 DOHC engine out of a '96 Lincoln MK8. I didnt get to give it a real good inspection in the junk yard. It is complete, with 130,000 on the clock. It has a new belt and plug wires on it, so it must have been serviced at some point. My questions are what should I check for to see if it is a good motor. I tried to turn it with a socket on the crank bolt, but the bolt turned alittle and I stoped, I didnt want to break anything. How hard should it be to turn over by hand, should I pull the plugs to relieve comression? Should I take off the belt? Should I put oil init before?I never bought a motor from the yard before so any opinions on what the process I should take will help. I know the fludids were drained 3 weeks ago acouding to the date that was written on the car from when it went in the yard.....THanks
