ANYONE W/98 GT PI SWAPPED LOOK
I have a 98 gt 5spd with a pi swap, i have been driving the car since febuary, its a D.D., but whenever i go up hill in 5th gear it starts to get what sounds like a really lite ping in the valve train, I am running on the factory tune, 180 thermostat, and premium fuel always no matter the price. I also have installed a egr restrictor gasket, none of these tricks changed the sound at all, I really need some input from others with this same setup, And it has to be a 98 cause ford changed the program on the 98 to get 225hp, unlike the 97 which i think had 215, I was told by some companies that my factory tune should run the pi swap just fine , if theres anyone else out there with a 98 pi swapped gt please let me know how your setup is, and if your running on the factory tune

When I did the swap I drove around on the factory tune and 93 for a few days and didn't get any pinging. Did you change the plugs when you did the swap? only time I've gotten pingng under load was when my original plugs had like .09 gap in them lol. I would get a tune though, it will net a considerable gain. I'd suggest a set of longtube headers for the sound, I love the way my car sounds with lt's and my o/r h.

Well it does'nt do it in 4th, but still seems like i should have enough power to go up a bridge in 5th at 2000rpm=80mph with the stock gear and it not ping, maybe it is the spark plugs, i have plugs in it for the 98, should i put different ones??

Cant afford even a handheld rite now, but its good to know that i can boost the engine just like it is, i ran a fox body lx just hours ago, he said he had gears and a cold air intake, we ran from a 40mph roll and i was able to walk away slowly, let off at 100mph, but still lookin for a little more power just cant afford it yet, anyone know what plugs i should be running in this motor???
