I have a 2004 mustang gt and the 1st time I replaced my intake it had 90k now my car has 160k and is leaking again. I’m assuming that they are only good for 90k miles? Do yall recommend the plastic again? I want a part that will last longer

since my car is leaking again at 160k does it mean i have a bad intake and i have to replace it with a new one or is it a gasket issue?

Probably needs another new intake manifold.
My 04 failed around 60k,two years old.Upfront on the passenger side.
I added some sealer at the back of the block valley, where there is a loosely fitted plastic cap.Should I have another manifold failure,at least I shouldn't have antifreeze rolling back and dripping into the clutch. When that happens, all sorts of shudders when you pull away from a stop.
I considered a metal version, but got the impression that a new throttle body and fuel rails were required.
If I can get eight years out of the replacement,as I did with the original, that's fine with me.Doubtful that I'll be the owner at that point, and if I am,no big deal.Another you change one,the next one goes easy.
I feel that they're good for just so many heating up/cooling off cycles, rather than mileage.

I replaced mine at 140, and now have a bad (and so far unlocated) vacuum leak that causes knock at wot. If the manifold is cracked again (with less than 5k on it) I'm gonna be pissed, but bite the bullet and buy the aluminum replacement. Just not sure if it will pass ca smog.

Here's a real good video HOW TO on replacing a PI manifold on a Non-PI engine.

And don't forget to look at the sticky at the beginning of this forum.
