Default O2 sensors

so a sensor in "bank 1" has gona bad on my car. i was told bank one was the first two plugs before the cats. since i cant figure out which one went bad, im just gona replace both the sensors before the cats.

so i jacked the car up and shimmed under it and found what i was looking for. seemed like a simple straight forward job....so i slap the wrench on the plugs and give it a tug....no luck. so i spend the next 30 mintues trying to get the fu*ker to budge and it wont give...

are they usually hard to losen?? thought about using WD40 to soak it a bit, but wasnt sure if it'll mess up the senors im gona be putting in....

any input would be nice. kinda fustrated and about to take it to the shop. i hate paying someone else to do something that i can do myself...

Yeah they are always hard to get off for the most part. Spray the wd40 on them, and let it soak in some then it should be easier to break loose. It wont mess anything up.

Bank 1 is the passenger side. Sensor 11 is passenger side upstream, 12 is passenger side downstream, 21 and 22 are the corresponding driver side sensors.

Do you know what DTC was thrown? Several of the O2 sensor related codes are actually the result of a good sensor reporting some other problem--so you need to know what code(s) was/were being reported, then look 'em up here to see what the problems and diagnostic measures are.

Don't just throw parts at the problem as that can get expensive...

i was under the impression it was the first two before the cats.

i cant remeber the excat code, but it boiled doen to the sensors bacily. i will get the code checked again though. thanks for the info, and that link rocks!! thanks!!

Just spray with WD-40 once or twice a day for a couple days. Should loosin her up. also check the wiring while your under there. My buddies suburu was throwin a O2 code and here the one wire was melted. The actual sensor was fine

cliffyk gave some good advice...turns out it was actually the converter on bank 1 that was jacked up and not the actual sensors.

since i have an off road h pipe sitting around, ill be putting that on and saving my 650 dollars for something else (damn converters are expensive).

thanks again bro.
