Default Clutch question

2003 GT, 5 speed with 23,000 miles. Over the last couple of days I have felt a slight vibration or knocking under the floor board at the pedals. I thought my H pipe might need to be tightened so I crawled under the car and checked it out. Everything was ok so I started looking around for any suspension stuff and all of that looked ok also. When I got home this morning and pulled into the garage I noticed a grinding noise, but when I pushed the clutch in it went away. If I release the clutch the noise comes back and you hear a slight click. Could the clutch being going bad already with only 23,000 miles? I don't drive it that hard, but I am afraid the previous owner may have. Any help would be great.

If you barely push the pedel down and the noise goes away it's most likely your throw-out bearing. As far as the vibrating and knocking noise, a throw-out bearing wouldnt cause it. Does it vibrate when you're just starting to take off in first or reverse? If so, clutch chatter could be an issue. But if it's vibrating while driving there could be a lot of things contributing to it, such as your modified exhaust system.

Thanks. The vibrating may be coming from the new H pipe, because it is load and the cats sit right under the floor board. But as far as the noise it definitely goes away with the clutch pushed in. Now I just need to find a trany shop that won't take me to the cleaners, because I don't have the tools to do this myself.

You got this backwards. The throw out bearing wont make noise UNTIL the pedal is slightly pressed.A grinding noise while the pedal is up is generally related to the tranny input shaft bearing or the pilot bearing not the t.o.b. As far as the vibrating that sounds like its probably your exhaust.
