forge crank?
within the next weeks I will be buying my forged rotating assembly. I am shooting for 550-600rwhp THROUGH MY BUILT AUTO. Do you guys think I should forge my crank, or could I save some bucks and just get the forged rods/pistons? its just tempting to reuse my crank that has only 48k original miles and looks like this:

Your SI blower will be maxed out a lot earlier than that crank is going to have issues.
Heck even MMR will tell you that their MMR600 (w/ GT crank) will spin to 8k rpm. As long as it's balanced you will not have an issue with it.

yeah, i have decided I'm going to just get my crank polished and keep it. Definately getting the internals balanced. I'm looking at this kit, what ya think:

Good call on keeping your cast. One of the trends for 4V guys that want to stay NA is to swap in a Cast crank because the forged one weighs so much more.
I will never understand why Ford thought they needed a forged crank in the 4V
