Default rotating assembly and turbo questions

looking into forged rotating assemblies. i came across mod max and they have a full assembly for $1360 shipped and balanced. keith black forged 10cc dished pistons, modmax forged 4340 h-beam rods with arp 2000 bolts, piston pins, modmax plasma moly file fit rings and king high performance rod and main bearings and ill use the stock crank. yall think this setup will support a turbo kit making no more than 600hp? they also offer to internally balance everything for an additional $250, is that a good price or should i take it somewhere and get that done? since im going turbo should i go for an even lower compression than 10cc, say 17cc dished pistons maybe?

I'd go with the 17/18cc dished pistons, I've got the modmax rotating assembly with the cobra crank and manley pistons. Are you gonna have a shop assemble the motor? If so, I'd just let them balance everything. Your cast crank should be fine at that power level also.

whats wrong with those pistons? going to stick to the cast crank and im going to assemble everything myself but send the block and what not out for machining. bore and hone and make sure everything is straight.

imo their forging processes arent as good as some higher level pistons like mahle or cp. they may be fine with a good tune, but better pistons will be more resistant to pitting and will make less noise. i just like to go ahead and finish the bottom end with a cobra crank. keeping the gt crank is kind of like pulling up to the drive thru and ordering medium fries instead of a large

its up to you man. me personally, am building my 97GT a 600rwhp motor through a built auto and am keeping the stock crank. mine only has 45k original miles, and I am not spinning it to the moon. But for ultimate reassurance, obviously get a cobra. But these cranks are underated and I have a few friends running 700rwhp mustangs with stock cranks. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING BALANCED and you should be fine

If you do go with a cobra crank, your block may need clearancing. I know mine did but it's a 98 romeo block, not sure when they started making blocks that were already clearanced.

GT crank is fine, I would run a steel ring up top though for a turbo motor, like hellfire and +1 on Keith Black being less the optimal. but I would go with diamond, cp or je.

hmmm. im not spending extra on a crank, ill just make sure the one i use gets resurfaced and whatever else if need be. as far as the pistons, im gonna see how much more it is for mahle or something better and go from there. thanks for the input.

FOBRA what do u mean run a steel ring up top?
