Just finished the swap from my Tr3650 to a T56. Everything so far is normal except: when I let off the clutch ALL the way, I hear a metallic tapping sound that varies with engine rpm. If I apply slight pressure to the clutch pedal, it stops.

Anyone know what could cause this? I wish I understood the mechanism better

sounds like a throw out bearing. did you use your factory clutch and TO bearing ?

I had a fairly new clutch already so I didn't touch the clutch, and I installed a new Ford TO bearing. Grr!!!

did you also replace the pilot bearing if not i would go ahead and replace the to bearing with a heavy duty one and replace the pilot bearing

Even if you don't need to dis-assemble it again, hit up my T-56 swap thread and install The Jazzer's super-duper magnet return to save that TO bearing over time. If you do need to take it apart ... be sure to install a Ford TOB and not an aftermarket one.
