How to know your fuel pump is going out!
Soo after my oil pump went out, now my freakin fuel pump...
is there any more pumps on this car so i can start saving now??
lol for real.... Ive had bad luck with this car =/
Anyways...
When i drive my car when its cold it runs fine for like a minute, then when i press the gas to get passed 2000 RPMS it jerks back and hesitates. I changed my spark plugs, fuel filter (the filter did help, it made it not jerk as rough) and then i went and bought new coils, but right before I put them on my Daddy called me and told me how to check...
*So Drive your car until you feel it kicking.
*Pull over and turn it off
*Turn just the key (dont start your car) and count to 5 seconds, and turn it off
*Do this 2 more times the same way
*Then start your car and floor it
*If its running perfect! then its deff. your fuel pump
Turning the key on and off a couple times is letting fuel run in to your fuel pump.
Replacing mine this weekend, will keep yall updated on how it goes =/
Wish me luck =]

I never heard of checking it that way but it seems like a good check if the car is not dead because of the fuel pump.
Make sure you don't bend the float for the fuel level while your working I did that and had to drop the tank again.

Sorta like when a girl leaves you. First it starts whining, then it stops putting out and then before you know it, you are stranded on a deserted road wishing like hell that you had fixed it before it got this far.
Now, being serious. Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and check how much PSI you have at the rail when it's acting up. Also listen for noises from the gas tank, really high pitched noises. And sometimes, it just dies. My old 95 seville just died cold on me one day, turned out that the power wires inside had melted.

Thats also a good way to check to see if your checkvalve is going out. If you have hard start issue, do that. If it goes away, then the checkvalve is bleeding off pressure as soon as you kill the key. Just so you know.

Yeah that. Now there is a reason to check that gas cap, it's not to keep the fumes it, it's to keep the oxygen out.
