Default 02 GT with DOHC

Hey guys, total ford newb here. Just had a question. Did the gt's come factory with DOHC motors? Or did this have to be a swap? The car only has 47k miles, leather interior, 5spd trans, but he said it has a dohc, not a sohc like the others, so this leads me to believe it's a swap, guy is trying to sell me the car for 8k cash, but I'm just not sure. It does have a clear title.

Well, if it's a dohc does that mean it has forged internals? Or are they still more than likely cast?

I think if it's an entire 03/04 cobra motor yes.

But if he just did a DOHC swap with the heads (and whatever else is involved) with his existing motor or a different DOHC motor then the internals are cast.

I would call the guy and see what he did.

Well, this guy couldn't have done the swap, any technical thing I ask he has no idea what I am talking about. He did say the block was aluminum, and that it was DOHC, and that is all I got out of him. If it's a dohc motor does that also mean its a 5.4l instead of 4.6l?
I am hoping it is a forged internal block, are there casting numbers I can look at to tell this? And where might they be located?
Sorry to be a pest, I literally know nothing about fords. I've been a chevy guy all my life, but I'll be damned if the 99-2004 mustangs aren't some of the best looking cars I've ever seen.

It could still be a 4.6L DOHC. I don't know any info about numbers you could look up. Definately some kind of complete motor swap was done if the block is aluminum.

The only motor that came with forged internals was the 03/04 Cobra. It has an iron block. GTs did not come with aluminum block or 4v heads so it sounds like someone swapped in an earlier 4v motor. It would not have forged internals unless the bottom was rebuilt.

I haven't seen the car in person, but it does look like a GT to me, has the gt badging, leather interior, 5spd trans, etc....

For 8k with 47,000 miles i would think so, but you never know.

Is this a private seller? If so did he buy it from someone else this way?

Either way i'd just call the guy, or go over there and pop the hood, and you'll know pretty quickly what it is.
