Auto Transmission Service!!!
Its time to change my transmission fluid and i just wanna know if a flush is recommended... I found some people on the internet saying its dangerous because it can blow out seals and others say its safe because it does not use that much pressure. i called the ford dealership and they said it should be fine because they do flushes right there... Has anyone had problems after a flush? Or should i just change the fluid and filter? Any help will be appreciated, thanx

the flush machines use a cylinder that has 2 chambers.1 is filled with the correct amout of fluid, the other chamer is where your old fluid goes.when your old fluid goes in to the old chamber it pushes on a diaphram that forces new fluid into the trans.the only presure that is applied to the system is the pressure coming out of the trans ,this applies the same amount of pressure to feed the new fluid into the trans.sometimes if the trans has high miles and hasnt been service, the new fluid can dislodge material inside the valve body causing valves to stick,in very few senarios.if it hasnt been service at all and has over 100 k then your rolling the dice.good luckl

You will want to do a back flush on it for sure, that is the only way to service these. To me, just doing a drain and refill is like changing your oil but not the filter. It will cost more because it takes twice as much tranny fluid. The flush 12qts thru the first time to get the old fluid out and to clean the filter and then the second 12 qts is to refill your tranny.

mine has alittle over 100k like 105k, yeah without the flush it would leave alot of old fluid in there... but i just dont want my tranny to totally break down...
Is the shop responsible if some sludge material is dislodged and messed up the tranny???

probably not otherwise ppl would be getting new trannys all the time. at least i would
i asked my friend who is a mechanic and works on fords.he said if it aint broke dont fix it. plus what dr. diesel said you can dislodge something. if your tranny fluid isn't black and your tranny is shifting fine then i would just leave it alone. why risk breaking it if its working fine. fix it when it breaks at least for that part.
