how to time heads on a SOHC GT
#4
hahha i think he means timing the cams lollol. you posted a thread a couple days ago about TDC in regards to the crank set that to TDC the keyway on the crarank will be approx at 12 oclock. the timing marks on the timing gears will be at 6oclock(its alittle dimple marked in each gear. then line the chain up with the timing mark on the cam gear which should be around 2oclock. you will prob have to spin the cam alittle bit to allign it properly so when you put the cam in the head try and get it as close to 2oclock as possible (2oclock on the drivers side cam and 9oclock on the passenger side)
First things first and find the timing links on the chain and mark them with a sharpie so you have the chain split in half. if you can't find the slightly lighter links just fold the chain in half and mark the links on opposite sides.
