Lightbulb Gasoline

Haha alright this may sound really dumb but i honestly don't know about it, but I have always used Regular gas in my cars usually cuz its just the cheapest. Im wondering, can I use Midgrade?? will it hurt my car if it mixes with the older gas already in there, and will it help my engine/power at all?? Thanks guys

you can but I don't think it will do anything unless your car is tuned to take advantage of the higher octane.

Doesn't do any good. I've been playing around with it for the past month. Running 2 tanks of each grade at a time. Fuel mileage is within .5 MPG and performance didn't change at all (seat of the pants feel any way Tracks here are still closed). Now adding the CAI and 70 MM throttle body helped alot. LOL

I have a BBK CAI and weld-ins but idk if i could mix the fuels. I thought it might improve MPG's, maybe add a little power, and i also thought it was better for your engine than Regular fuel

Octane 101...

From that document:
The bottom line is that using a higher octane gasoline than that for which an engine was designed and tuned WILL NOT increase its performance—all that is necessary is the octane rating needed to eliminate detonation, and you will find that the manufacturer’s recommended grade of fuel has been selected to exceed that need.

The factory tune is for the low grade gas. If u get a tuner and a tune for the mid or high grade u will get better results.

It's worse than that, the stock tune is a low grade tune for low grade gas...

Any new edge Mustang will benefit from adding 2.0° to the global spark adder, and adding 1.0° to 2.0° to the higher load/rpm entries in the spark borderline table--even when running 87 octane fuel.

That's why I recommend opening up the exhaust, then buying a tuner, then rear-end gears as the first mods--in that order...

That is a better way of wording what I was tryin 2 say. The stock tune is good 4 stock, but the more bolt on's or any power adder u have 2 get something better from a tuner

My point was that it's not even good for a dead stock new-edge GT.

The ignition timing is very conservative and it tends to be rather rich at WOT--both done deliberatly IMHO to make 100% sure no one could possibly damage the engine while under warranty.

Knowning what I do about these cars now, if I had it to do over a tuner would be my first mod...
