Help with whine noise...
Hi guys,
I have a 2001 GT with about 88K on it, Vortech added about 14 months ago. New Spec stage 2 and flywheel around 16 months ago (around 6-7k miles)
So over the last month or so, I have noticed a whine that sounds like it comes from around the shifter. It only happens when the car is under load and in 1st or reverse. For example, this AM, I was at a stop sign with a little incline, so when I let out the clutch it squeals. It only lasts a second or two. And it sounds like the noise travels up near the shifter area, not the rear end or belt squeal.
However, to describe the noise, I would say it sounds similiar to belt squeal, but maybe with a little more moan and not high pitched.
Any suggestions?

Did you use the throw out bearing supplied with the clutch? If so that might be the problem as they are garbage, and it might be going bad. Also check the tranny fluid. It could be low, or just need changing.

Yes, I had the TOB from the SPEC kit installed.
They also put in new fluid during the clutch install because they had to drain the tranny for install. (which I wasn't aware of?). so the current fluid has about 6 - 7k miles on it.
But now I'm sure they just filled it to the hole overflowed, and I know there was that TSB that suggested a little less tranny fluid. Would that cause the whine almost 14 months later?
