Default New motor not running right.

I have a built motor with heads and cams n more. Well I just got the car running, n broke in the cams about 2 days ago. My goal is to put about 50mi. on it to give the motor a good break in before I head to the dyno for a real tune, I've been using the diablo performance tune for now. I can tell the motor is running rich but I'm okay with that as long as it doesn't run lean there's no lasting damage. But when driving the car it tends to spit and sputter alot from 1200 to 2500rpms but runs great from there on. Is this just an issue withthe tune? suggesting I should just get it dyno'ed tuned to fix the problem?

You should probably go get a good tune for driveability, but I'm not sure if doing a full out dyno tune is a good idea at just 50 miles. It shouldn't take long to rack up a few miles on the car, plus do a simple low rpm dyno tune to get the bugs worked out, then once it's completely broken in, see what you can do on the dyno.

yes it is from the lack of tune. they can tune it part of the way without going into wot. If you talk to them i bet they would give you a good deal when you go back for a full tune

FYI, when breaking in a new motor, it's imperative that it doesn't run too rich especially if they are moly rings. Too much fuel will wash out the oil lubricating your cyl walls and cause your rings not to seat right.

As far as drivability, that should be fixed when you get the car tuned.
