questions about superchargers
#23
i was about to say something when i saw the 4k price tag on the 'kit' he posted... lol dude, do the 1500 vortech, its solid. and the only hard part is you have to find a used head unit, this is safe if its checked over by a mechanic and you can get them for cheap around 400-600 bucks.

i would recommend building your rear end up, with the power you will be making with a supercharger and DR's you will break your rear end. Also if you do not have sub frame connector's they would be a good idea. The 1500$ kit is the best way to go by far, but you are going to have to build up the car around it.

Your being told to get way too much ****. Get a supercharger, centri or kb, your choice and get dragradials. You'll have plenty of fun. And can add the other **** later down the line when u feel like it. Mph has a vortech kit w everything u need for 3900. Spend 300 on dragradials. And for 4200 you'll have more car then u think

There is a lot of hoop-la about the $1500 supercharger. I've read posts from people who have done it. The last post I read the guy took two months to collect everything and still spent just over $3,000. You have to piece part the kit together with used or home fabricated parts. Another guy has said he will never buy used parts again after his experience with a used supercharger. The choice is up to you. Some guys can and want to do it themselves. Others don't.
Modular Power House (MPH) has a good reputation. Their Mongoose kit for $3,900 is a complete kit including the tune. It does not come with an intercooler.

You do not need gages. I have both a boost gage and a fuel pressure gage. They look great on the instrument cluster but I have found neither one to be very useful. We have a returnless fuel system in our cars so the fuel pressure gage just swings up and down with the throttle movement. The "real" purpose of a boost gage is to let you know the supercharger is still working after you get used to all the new power. The point in time that referencing the gages are most important (approaching 6000 rpm for the next shift), you don't have time to look at them.
Again, you can put a supercharger running low boost on a completely stock GT and need nothing else.
