Left my car sitting for 4 months

i disconnected the tank straps and slowly lowered my jack but the only thing that came down was the cover. the tank is still in place

You need to take out the 3 bolts by the filler neck where you put fuel in. You also need a ford fuel line disconnect tool if you don't already have it. There are a couple electrical connectors as well.

I would also buy a new fuel filter with the fuel pump.

yeah i took out those 3 bolts at the filler neck at the gas cap and the 3 in the trunk. i dont have the fuel line tool, i will pick that up tomorrow. i also bout the fuel filter as well.

My tank had quite a bit of fuel in it when the pump went out and IIRC the tank dropped as the straps were coming off. You might need to wiggle it or pull down on the tank a bit. I think there is some insulation between the tank and the trunk pan, it might be stuck on that.

so the only thing that should keep the tank up is the straps right?

Follow the filler neck from the tank back up to where it goes up through the trunk basically. There might be a few bolts holding it up there too.

getting so freaking frustrated. i bought the fuel line disconnect tool 5/16. watch a video on youtube so i know im doin it right but i cant get the feul line to disconnect. not sure what to do.

nevermind i got it. persistance and patience was the key. hoping to drop the tank today.

ok i think i got everything disconnected except 2 hoses. i tried taking them off but the have some wierd clamp on them and i dunno how to remove it. i there some special tool for this?
