ok i got the gas tank dropped mostly. another stupid but necessary question. the fuel pump is on top of the tank right? opened by 6 screws? im sure thats it ut dont wanna open it uless im sure

ok i got the tank down. the fill hose is stil in it but i can access the top of the tank easily. stupid question but the fuel pump is accessed through the top of the tank by unscrewing the 6 screws in the round lid on top right??

yes that is the fuel hat take it out. When removing and installing the fuel hat, be very careful you don't bend the wire with the float for your fuel level gauge or your reading is going to be off.

I am shocked when I read this thread... I have had my Mustang (sad to say) sit for almost 2 years... I never have one problem.

trying to get the hat off. the wire harness connected to the top, does this come off? i dont wanna force it. also have a fuel line connected to it that i cant gt off.

here is the pic i am using for reference. do i have to take that whole thing out or can i take the pump out from there. also i dont even see the pump in there to take out??? i am getting close i just wanna get this done already.

Yes that is the fuel bucket remove it and change the pump. You should be able to do this even if you can't get the harness and line off like you mentioned in post 26.

I just came back from 7 months and my car turns over and all had to replace the battery too, but it will start and then stall and it happened leaving the restuarant tonight. Does this sound like the same problem? I had to hold the gas down for and rev up and then it still died a few times, the idle was also a little jumpy. After that it worked fine no problems... do you think a little sea foam or injector cleaner would help or should i take the fuel pump/filter route?

SUCCESS!! i finally got the unit out, replaced the pump, put everything back together, replaced the filter and connected the battery. turned the key, heard the pump and it fired right up. now im gonna let it set for a couple hours and look under the car for any leaks. all this and not extra pieces left over thanks for all your help people, im sure i will be calling again.
