Default anyone with a vortech??

I am about to buy a vortech v-3 supercharger for my 2003 GT, but I was wondering...with a 65k mile engine....would it be a 'bad' thing to have a supercharger that is NOT intercooled installed?? It is almost 1300 more for the intercooler version....and I only want to run about 8 psi of boost anyway...

I just dont want to do any damage to my engine, I am only looking to pick up about 100 hp since this is a DD and not a track car.

8 PSI will be fine on a non-intercooled setup. You could actually go quite a bit more so long as you have a good tune. Just have to be sure you take out timing based on your IAT.

u should be fine as long as your not driving 400 miles a day at a time. with me being intercooled if i drive a long distance over time the charger will get hot and i can feel the car wanting to take a break.

Bingo. That's what you need to do.

I bought the non-intercooled Vortech V2 and moved the iat sensor up to the discharge tube. My car woud pull MAAAD timing in the summer and the temps were reading 180+ degrees going into the car pushing 8lbs. You couldn't even touch the supercharger because it was so hot after driving it for like 10 minutes. The car was way slower and my tuner said that those tems were pretty dangerous. I bought an air to air intercooler kit for $250 and slapped it on and immediately fixed the problem. Of course, I had to buy a smaller pulley to put the boost back at the same psi as before.

Just realize that if you don't get an intercooler, you're going to be putting air into your engine that's over 180 degrees rather than ambient air temps. It's your choice...

idk what comes with your car but with mine even with the basic vortech i had to upgrade my injectors and fuel pump, but that all came with the kit.Im not sure if stock can hold up and wouldnt want to take the chance since you can find that stuff on the forums for pretty cheap (39lb injectors and 255lb fuel pump)
