Performance gain

Do you mean headers, mid-pipe, and mufflers? Certain setups produce more rwhp and others make more torque. On my 04 GT I run Bassani headers and catted X pipe (won't pass smog in Cali even though it's catted), and Borla side-exit exhaust. This setup gave me an extra 40ish horsepower.

Realistically, on an otherwise stock car you're only going to get 15 rwhp out of exhaust, most of that coming from removing the cats. Ford did a pretty good job with the exhaust on stock Mustangs.

Sorry, I must have been having a senior moment; maybe it was after the second 40 oz. 40 hp is a typo; it should be 20ish. I should have looked at my dyno sheets from 4 years ago. My apology.....The average on 3 dyno pulls was 20.17 rwhp gain with my setup. It's all in the headers!!! Not even NASA could get 40 hp out of any exhaust system on our cars.
