Default 99 GT: Lots of problems, please help!

I have a '99 GT with 95K miles on the clock. I have many problems, and hope someone can help.
First thing is, randomly while driving the wipers will turn on by themselves and then stop. Sometimes it will be just once, other times 3-4 times. I cannot figure out the issue, and it is annoying/embarrassing at times.

Second, when idling I smell what seems to be burning plastic, coming from the engine. There is no smoke that I can see, but it smells awful. I can't see what the issue could be. All wires seem fine, no electrical issues I can see.

Lastly, I think I may have a misfire, my CEL flashed last week and it seems to hesitate drastically when accelerating.

Thanks in advance for the help, you guys are always great!

as far as the CEL thing, I had head gasket issues with my 99 mustang w/ about the same amount of miles. Turned out coolant was leaking causing my misfire.

As for the wiper blades, you might have a faulty switch right on your steering column. Probably needs replacing.

The burning plastic smell could be anything. It will be hard to diagnose. I could be simply some tape that is laying on the hot block and slightly burning. It could be anything. You will have to pinpoint it to a area/something.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check out what the code for my CEL is and track it down from there. I really wish I could pinpoint the burning smell, I'll see what I can do. Thanks again. If anyone else has any tips, let me know.

Ever run over a plastic bag lately that didn't come out the back of the car? Could have gotten stuck to the exhaust and believe me that smell won't go away any time soon if it is that!

Wipers,, multifunction switch is more than likely the culprit!!

I'm going to pick up a new multifunction switch tmrw and hope that fixes the issue. Good idea about the plastic bag, that very easily could be the issue. I'll check that. I'm also going to replace the spark plugs as they probably should have been replaced 20K ago. I'll also check the COP's for any sign of wear and tear too. Thanks guys for the help.

So I replaced all plugs and the CEL turned off. I drove it around for about 15-20 mins and pretty hard with no issue. I'll keep an eye on it for awhile. The COP's looked good, so no need to replace those. No plastic bag that I could find however. But, I did see some loose tape that might've been the culprit and I removed that so hopefully that fixes the issue. Autozone didn't have the multifunction switch in stock, so that'll have to wait for another day.
