Default upper control arm vs 05

I know how the 99-04's suspension works, and i would love for a PHB/TA setup, but i've been thinkin about how the 05+'s are setup, and thought to myself, why cant our cars be retro-fitted with the same upper control arm?

just wondering if anyone has ever looked into this. i realize a TA setup would probably be beefier, but its a bit expensive and bulky and for me, would require a reworking of the exhaust by cutting and rewelding piping.

i dont really have any good pictures of the 05 suspension, nor have i seen it in person (do have an idea of how its setup though), but a single upper control arm seems like it would be such a benefit if we could just weld (or possibly bolt) one onto our 8.8's.

I really like the UCAs baselinesuspension.com sells. Click me

I think aftermarket UCAs can be a very nice upgrade and much better off then stock. For most cases, UCAs are plenty for our cars.

gotta be honest, im not one of those cases really im tryin to find either a way to fit our cars with a single arm like on the 05+'s or i'll just get a T/A. talking corners, not so much drag. altho i may take it for some runs, im not gunna setup the suspension for it.

whats interesting, is baseline's pro-launch setup. maybe i can use the idea from that to weld in a 05+ single arm attach point?

By the time you retrofit an upper control arm from an S197 onto your SN95, you will very likely surpass the expense of going PHB/TA combo.

The even bigger issue that is a huge advantage to going TA is the lower roll center (RC) of the rear suspension. The UCA's of both models put this higher in the rear than front, so the roll axis is angled upward through your car. During a hard corner this roll axis reduces your abilty to carry speed through a turn and is a bad thing. The TA moves the RC down to make the roll axis about 10" lower to greatly improves ones ability to tip-toe.

great info. just wish the damn T/A's werent so expensive :/ $650 from maximum... and thats not including the fact that i'd have to modify my exhaust since the Y of the downpipe is right in the way..

its too bad Evolution motorsports doesnt do business anymore. i found a link from awhile back and they were selling singe upper arm conversion for about half the price.

wondering of this alternative though:
griggs has a T/A (429.95) but requires to weld to thier subframes. i dont have subframes yet(i know, i need them bad lol). thier lower subframes are ~100$ IIRC. so for 530 or so $ i can get an excellent package and knock out 2 birds with 1 stone.

and for PHB i'd get the maximum motorsports since its the cheaper of the 2 and includes provision for coilover mount.

just hope they can work together?

As long as you continue to have a UCA, you will have the same roll axis issues. The ONLY way to rid yourself of it is to lower the "imaginary line" that is the roll axis via TA. This moves the axis because the point at which the body roll follows is now moved to just below the pumpkin and where the RC is of the front end... ideally anyway.

the W/L has already been considered. i considered it 2 years ago but it adds an extra 300$ to the budget for only a marginal increase...

not sure how well it would hold up to 400+ rwhp...

and yes, a T/A would be required in order to eliminate the upper control arms. and the problem with that is how do you know which T/A's will not have fitment issues with the Fays2

1. I don't see the WL having any adverse effects due to high HP as the forces applied to it are only lateral.

2. The Fays2 is designed specifically to avoid OEM GT exhaust, so don't likely see an issue there either.

3. The TA would be required when BOTH UCA's have been removed weather a WL or PHB were installed.
