Default Automatic Transmission

I have an '04 Stang with a 4.6, love the car except for it being an automatic...but the price was right...is there anyway to get a more aggressive shift? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Not sure what you mean by a more aggressive shift. You can use a tuner to set the RPMs that is shifts at but I wouldn't recommend it IMO.

You can get a shift kit, J-mod,or buy a new valvebody, increase the line pressure with a handheld tuner, do a search.

I put the transgo shift kit in my car, and the 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift were way too hard, the 3-4 shifts would lag, I called transgo and the customer service was awful. I replaced it with PA valve body and everything works great, I now have firm & fast shifts.

delta force special forces tuner has very customizable shift settings for automatics. i have no personal experience with that whatsoever since i have 5sp, but i have heard great things about it. and making firmer shifts is actually better for automatics, its the really smooth shifts that ruins em

edit: and the special forces tuner will also allow you to raise/lower the rev limiter on each shift individually, which would help out a little since, IMO, the rev limiter is a bit low in most gears

I don't know why people hate on autos so much. The trans has so much potential. Would stay away from the transgo shift kit though. Go with a new valve body or go with the j-mod. Trans cooler should be one of the first things you do no matter what. You can also get a different converter as well. Again don't hate on the auto just yet. I'd always rather pick auto over manual.

i don't agree with everything trueblue said above, but def a +1 on the tranny cooler if you're a more "spirited" driver
