I have a 2000 gt that just started making this hollow grinding sound only durring the morning start up. As soon as the car warms up the sound goes away. The sound can only be heard from inside the car you can not hear this sound comming from the engine bay but the sound does get louder when you rev the car. I really can't figure out where the sound is comming from. Just this morning my car threw a code and yes as i write this i'm on my way to autozone to find out but just wanted to know if this sound like a problem anyone has had?

the sound is only when is really cold outside and it only last a few minutes? maybe we have the same problem

hard to say if you only hear it from inside the car im leaning toward maybe a starter bendix issue it could be that the starter bendix isnt restracting and grinding on the fly wheel and once the motor heats up the starter bendix retracts
