Default strip shifting

Well this will be the first time to the track with a manual. Last time was with my 95 mark 8 and out of a total of only 6 passes got the best of 15.1 at 95mph 2 years ago.

so friday night me and a buddy are going. just want to double check on a few things.

1) no need to "burnout" just clean the tires off and skip waterbox (sumi 315's summer tires)
2) launch around 2300ish??? give or take depending on track
3)give her hell and dont miss shifts ahah...ending in 4th gear??

what do you guys typically shift at for rpms?

she is a stock 04 GT 43K mi, O/R x pipe, magnaflow CB, 75mm TB/Plenum, stock tune, MGW.

I have read stories of lanuching too hard and breaking axles.....but I dont know if that only applies to DR/slicks...

I dont mean to draw this thread out into a whole "what to do/not to do" thread, just had couple small things I was wondering about. I'm guessing I'll see 14's??

The launch you will have to play with, but don't worry bout breaking anything on street tires. You are right about skipping the water box. just spin the tires a little bit to clean them off. as for shift points, 1-2 and 2-3 shift at 6k. 3-4 short shift it at 5k. you can probably see 13s if you dont miss a shift and get off the line pretty decent.

thanks Fizzics, where I go a helmet is needed anything 13.99 and faster from their rulebook.

I'll bring one just in case I get good enough at it.

Personally I've never shifted at 6K, most people on here recommend 5500.

I've been powershifting on mine, it's held up fine. Personally on street tires I wouldn't do it on the 1-2 shift, but the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts should help out a bit.
