2002 Auto GT, Miss in O/D?
Hi everyone. I have searched for hours, and have not found anything pertaining to this issue, and was hoping someone could help. I have an 02 Auto GT that seems to have a slight miss or bump every few seconds when driving around 35-45 mph. When I take the car out of o/d, this seems to stop the miss. I recently changed the fluid and filter, and this did not make a difference. The car currently has around 50k on it. I am stumped. Can anyone offer any ideas or things to check? It really could be either an engine miss or transmission issue. I cannot tell. Thanks in advance!

I have the same year, make, and model and it is one of two things. The cheaper route would be your Coil on plugs. They are $90 for all 8 from eBay. The second which I had completed was a tranny rebuild. My OD disks or bands were worn and it caused the same bumping issue. Luckily for me it was still under warranty or it would have been a $2000.00 bill. I would definitely try the COP's. I just replaced mine at Christmas and the car runs smooth again.

mine did this about a year ago, turns out my number 2 and 3 coil back where firing but not all the time. in most cases the hood scoop leaks and hit 2 and 3 which causes the miss when you put new cop's in put some dilectric grease around where the contact the head wont happen again, little trick i learned at ford

Thanks everyone for the replies. I changed my plugs as one was badly fouled. I checked my hood scoop and it is not leaking. I also cleaned and checked over the COP's as well as using dielectric grease on them. I am now wondering if maybe my IAC is going/gone. When I put my car in reverse after starting it up in the morning, it chugs and surges almost like it wants to die out. The miss is still present when driving as well. Anyone else had something similar with the chugging when put in gear? After searching, I am now leaning toward the IAC being faulty. Would this cause the slight miss as well possibly?
