Default Cam swap by yourself?

Hey everyone, do you think I'll be able to perform a cam swap on my 2003 2V GT by myself with basic tools without too much trouble? I'll have the Anderson Ford Motorsport timing gear tool (to keep it in place during cam swap) to help me out. Am I going to need to turn the crank over at all? How's that done, assuming everything is attached to the motor (i.e. belt, timing cover, etc., since I'll be using the Anderson tool)?

Thanks!

It took us about 25 hours with the motor in the car, but we also degreed the cams.

What cams are you doing? Are you doing valve springs as well?

25 hours!? I'm doing a grind by a guy out of California. Similar to the Houston Performance 292's. Lift max's at .540 so I don't need to swap springs, and I'm not pulling the timing cover, so should be considerably easier than other cam swaps...I hope!

Yeah, the reason it took so long is because we replaced the crank gears (means the timing cover had to come off) with a set of TFS adjustable ones, and spent several hours trying to degree the cams in to the proper ICL. That alone, with the motor being in the car, took forever to get just right. Minus that part, it probably took half that time.

I'm curious to see how it turns out for you. Keep us posted.

Oh trust me, it takes a while when you pull the timing cover, and start messing with these adjustable crank gears lol. The cams came 5 and 7 degrees retarded respectively, and it was a nightmare to get them to the correct ICL with the motor in the car. My buddy who was helping me has done several mod motors before (so he knew what we were doing) but most of the time he just pulls the motor, and does his work on a engine stand.
