Default Rear Main Seal

So Im in the middle of my clutch change and I am looking at the rear main. I was going to replace it because I thought it was leaking. But once I pulled the flywheel off, it is not wet right around crank. It is wet around the bottom of the oil pan however. Does the rear main seal go into the plate that is bolted to the block? If so I wont bother changing the seal and look elsewhere for the leak.

That is what happened with my car. Thought the rear main was leaking but turned out to be the oil pan leaking a little. I didn't replace mine because it was still in good shape.

I would not go through pulling the tranny, clutch, and flywheel and NOT replace the rear seal, for the $20 or so it costs for a high quality PTFE seal why not?
